A client from Woodbine was referred to our team at Westminster Speed and Sound to provide a radar detector and laser defense solution for this stunning 2021 Mercedes-Benz e63 AMG wagon. Escort Laser Shifters Help Prevent Speeding Tickets
Once this gorgeous blue wagon was in our bay, our technicians set to work removing the front and rear bumper covers to mount the laser shifters and radar receivers. We installed two of the shifters in the lower center grille and the other two in the outer air intakes below the headlights. Having all four shifters on the front of the vehicle maximizes the system’s capabilities of preventing police using lidar from taking a measurement.
DSP-Based Radar Detector Delivers Excellent Sensitivity
We mounted the DSP-based front radar receiver on the metal support structure on the front of the car. The second receiver is mounted similarly on the rear of the vehicle. Radar signals can pass through the plastic bumper covers with almost no amplitude degradation, so the concealed installation looks great and performs fabulously.
Easily Accessible Controls and Display
After discussing where to install the the OLED display for the MAX360ci, the client chose the top left corner of the windshield. We blacked out that small section of the windshield so that the adhesive on the rear of the display wouldn’t show from the outside. This mounting location is inconspicuous but still leaves the display clearly visible to the driver while underway.
The small control panel for the system is mounted to the lower dash trim panel right under the steering column. Once again, this well-concealed location is easily accessible if the owner needs to make adjustments to the system or cancel the signal from the laser shifters.
Testing and Training Ensure Reliable Performance
Once the installation was complete, we used our police-issue radar detector and lidar gun to test the system. This step, along with the proper placement and alignment of the laser shifters, is crucial to ensuring that the system will provide the protection the client requested.
We finished by providing the owner with a detailed walk-through of how the system functions and a thorough explanation of how to use laser shifters to avoid speeding tickets. The client was thrilled with the work we had done and was very appreciative of receiving the proper training.
